Heroic Games Launcher

Heroic is an open-source launcher for Epic Games Store and GOG that runs natively on Linux. No Wine wrapper is needed for the launcher itself.

Supported Stores

  • Epic Games Store - Your full Epic library plus a free game every week. Heroic syncs your claimed games automatically.
  • GOG - DRM-free games from your GOG account, with cloud save sync and automatic updates.
  • Amazon Prime Gaming - Claim and play Prime Gaming titles. Support is experimental.

Connecting Your Accounts

Epic Games

  1. Open Heroic Games Launcher
  2. Click Log in next to Epic Games in the sidebar
  3. A browser window opens for you to sign in
  4. Your library syncs automatically once logged in

GOG

  1. Open Heroic Games Launcher
  2. Click Log in next to GOG in the sidebar
  3. A browser window opens for you to sign in
  4. Your library syncs automatically. Cloud saves work out of the box for supported titles

Amazon Prime Gaming

  1. Open Heroic Games Launcher
  2. Click Log in next to Amazon in the sidebar
  3. Sign in with your Amazon account in the browser window

Amazon Prime Gaming support in Heroic is experimental. Some titles may not install correctly.

Proton-GE

For better game compatibility, install ProtonUp-Qt from Arc Store, select Heroic as the launcher, and download a Proton-GE version. It will appear in Heroic’s Wine settings as a selectable option.

Free Weekly Games

Epic gives away free games every week. Heroic shows them on the home screen and you can claim them without leaving the launcher. Claimed games stay in your library permanently.

Heroic vs. Lutris for GOG

Both Heroic and Lutris can play GOG games. Heroic has native GOG integration with cloud saves and auto-updates, so it works well for most titles. Lutris is worth trying if a specific game needs advanced Wine configuration that Heroic doesn’t expose.

Storage

  • Extra Drives - Set up and mount a second hard drive or SSD before adding it here.

Heroic does not auto-detect drives. You need to set the path manually:

  1. Open Heroic and go to Settings
  2. Under Games Installation Path, click the folder icon and select your mount point
